This boats design is based on the 1902 race boat The Fairbanks No 2.  The Fairbanks No. 2 may have been the original Draketail launch, boats that became popular work boats in New England.

The Fairbanks Meteor has the same beam dimensions as the Fairbanks No. 2, is similar in profile, but is only half the length of the No. 2. The castings were all custom made by David Berg and Jim Ross.

The current owners of this launch are Victoria Paulson and Ronald Ringel of Wasilla, Alaska.

This boat won Boat of the Year in 1999 at the Coeur d’ Alene boat show.
